Day 2 - Sydney

Day 2 - Sydney

Today we took a tour of the Sydney Harbour bridge. After riding the maze of buses and having to switch over 3 or 4 times, we finally made it to the correct stop to cross the bridge. On the bridge, I was able to get some better pictures of the opera house. After crossing the bridge, we visited the bridge museum and lookout which is located in one of the large support pillars. The lookout made a great place to make some pictures.

After the bridge, we visited the Museum of Sydney. Although it was interesting, it was kind of overwhelming because of all the artifacts to look at. They had large stations that had 20-30 drawers that lit up when opened that contained all types of artifacts. The museum did have a really cool room that documents the history of the surfing craze in Australia. It was definitely the coolest part.

For lunch, at 3:00 pm may I add, we visited a place called "Pancakes on the Rocks". I ordered the Mexicana crepes, which were awesome. Weird that a place specializing in pancakes would serve Mexican style crepes.

Steele, Matt, Stuart, and I went on the excursion for our man-bags today. After visiting North Face, where the cheapest option was $149.00AU, we asked a local for an outdoor store. The store we found resembled Kinnucan's and we were able to find these awesome packable day packs for $26.00AU.

After the day activities, a group of us went to a local cafe to use the "Free Wifi". We quickly found out the "Free Wifi" is free with a purchase. All of us had 2 or 3 beers while we worked on uploading all of our photos and blog information. Many of us have tried to find Wifi outside of campus when uploading large files because of our data limits here. We have to pay $10.00 for every 1GB of usage on campus.

The Adventures of Bling Bling Dumpling.......

Upon completion of our work, a group of us decided it was time for dinner. While walking down the street, we saw a sign for a restaurant called "Bling Bling Dumpling". Keep in mind we were in the predominately Asian side of town. When we walked in, there were disco balls, lights, sparkly things hanging from the doorways, and a sparkly table rubber table cloth that resembled a shower curtain. Our table was also decorated with a large buddha statue and angry bird stuffed animals at each place setting. This place got weirder by the minute. Although the meal was not great, I can attribute my spending for entertainment purposes.

They have dedicated bike lanes here that are separated by concrete medians. Smart.

These are people on the Sydney Bridge climb. It is extremely expensive and did not look like it was really worth it. We got a pretty good view on top of the bridge museum.

Better view of the opera house from the bridge.

Look at the name of this store. "Frat House - American Apparel with Australian Flare"
